Chinese Prisoners Forced to Play Online Game

The prisoners in the  Jixi  camp, China, were forced to play online games  by the jailers. One former prisoner said, the purpose of this activity is none other than for profit. A total of 300 prisoners were forced to play games online that can generate money, such as World of Warcraft. The advantage gained will be controlled by the wardens.

prisoners are required to meet a quota to collect a variety of in-game virtual items that will be sold by the warden in exchange for real money. Liu Dali, a prisoner who languished in Jixi 2004 to 2007 reveals, he was forced to play the game at night after noon through hard work.

"If I am not produced according to quotas, they will punish me physically. They beat me with plastic pipes. We are forced to continue playing until it is difficult to see," said Liu.

Liu also said he had heard that the wardens advantage of it per day can reach 700 to 925 U.S. dollars. According to the New York Times in 2008 that last about 2 billion U.S. dollars from virtual items collected. Source
